A sad day for freedom fighters

We’ll miss you, Superman.

As for me, I had a really great weekend. It was wonderfully quiet. No Shame was kind of bad on Friday, but it’s natural to have up and down weeks, I guess. The audience was small. We need to get out and advertise more.

Saturday was wonderful, though. We slept in, ate leftover pizza, and I went grocery shopping. I bought stuff to make game hens with cornbread stuffing and asparagus. While the hens thawed, we went out and took a walk/gentle hike out at the reservoir. We went to the Devonian Fossil Gorge. It was great! I can’t believe I’ve never been out there before. You see, in the floods of ’93, a bunch of roadway and other stuff got washed away, exposing a cool fossil area. I saw brachiopods abnd porifera. Apparently there was an eight-foot fish head found, which is on display at the visitor’s center, but the visitor’s center was closed when we got there.

That’s ok. It was a beautiful day to be out scrambling around in the woodsy woods and the fossily fossils.

Oooh, it’s really cold on your throat when you eat two Altoids and then take a drink of ice water. Yikes.

In other exciting news, I’m using my crock pot for the first time. It’s making white chicken chili all day today while I’m at work. That’s so nice of it. I’m looking forward to the moment of walking in the door and having a tasty, simmery dinner waiting for me. Delisho.

Oh! Also, I’m learning Portuguese. I only know a few phrases (and only by sound) right now, but I’m going to be at least marginally competent by the time we (hopefully) go to Portugal in the spring.
