Crunch time

OK, we’re getting down to the final days. The wedding is in two weeks and five days (egads!), which means that really I have two weeks and three days to get everything done, because there’s not much I can do past Thursday what with the rehearsal on Friday. I want to be able to relax and enjoy the rehearsal and dinner, so everything has to be set by Thursday.

I’m a very planny-aheady person, and I feel like we’re on a pretty good schedule in terms of getting things done. We had the programs printed up last weekend and I got them all folded up; I had dreams of putting on decorative grommets or something, but given how long it took to just fold those bad boys, that may get scrapped. We also bought tons of pop and bottled water for the reception, which the venue is kindly letting us provide. We’re required to go through IMU bar service for alcohol, which of course we’re paying through the nose for, but we’re making it up to some degree by providing our own pop. We also cut almost $2,000 off the catering bill by providing shrimp, fruits, and vegetables rather than buying them from the caterers. It’s more work, and unfortunately it’s not work that can be done much ahead of time, but $2,000 bought us a new air conditioner. And that is WORTH IT.

I get my piano and my wedding dress today! I am very tempted to put on my wedding dress and play the piano while wearing it. Maybe I’ll play “Here Comes the Bride.” The only problem is that one time my brother sat on the piano bench while he was wearing sweaty athletic shorts, and there’s still a mesh athletic shorts pattern smooshed into the bench. I wouldn’t want to get that on my dress. Of course, I’ve seen denim wedding dresses on the runways lately, so maybe athletic mesh is the next big trend.
