Post 1000

My 1000th post, and it’s all about boobs! And not in the way that most of you fellows hope it is; sorry(ish).

So…all you moms out there, how did you know what size nursing bra to get? I want to have at least one before the baby is born, because the idea of going to the mall (which makes me grumpy on a good day) with a newborn (all those germy people!) and little sleep is a horrifying proposition.

Are nursing bras sized such that you buy your normal size, but they’re extra stretchy or something? Or do you have to do an entire size reevaluation? I bet they get dirty faster than regular bras, too, so it would be a good idea to have a fair number of them so they can rotate in and out of the laundry.

I don’t even know what’s going on with this woman. It looks like her chest is wearing Oakleys.

The tenor of this post reminds me of punching up 5318008 on my calculator as a young boy. Or last week. Whatever.

    Hey Aprille,

The nursing bras are good sometimes, but honestly I have been wearing mostly sports bras. It’s kinda nice because you can just lift it up and not worry about unsnapping one side, etc.

Whoa, Carrie! Hi, how’s it going?

And thanks, anon.  I’ll check those out.

I was also a no nursing bra but sports bra instead mom. Way easy and cheap. As far as it getting more dirty than not nursing, i think is about the same as long as you using nursing pads.

Found out the hard way with my pregnant sister that bra size pre-preg, during preg, and after preg were all different. We must have bought and returned 15 nursing bras pre-baby. Based on our unhappy experience, I’d guess buy a couple of those nighttime nursing bras or a few sports bras until you figure out what your end size is after the baby is born. I think she now buys at motherwear.com Good luck! 🙂

Ok I have to weigh in on this one. wow. That was a tacky little sentence in regards to this subject. Get two or three to start out with. I had a nursing bra that was built like a sports bra. I wore it every night. For like 3 months. It was priceless and I just got my pregnancy size. And it sucked wearing a bra to bed, so at least it was comfortable.

Maternity stores sell these awesome little bra extenders. They work wonders when you’re not the least bit worried about side boob.

I tried to go the whole sports bra lift one side route, but, well, they’re just too darn big. Not the sports bras. It is so trial and error, but just make sure you’re covered for the first few weeks and then you can get good ones online or at the store. You will have a love/hate relationship with your nursing bras. And until you use them have fun playing with them because they are so funny.
