Icy day

My fair city is covered in a sheet of ice, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.  I felt like a wuss doing it, but I decided to work from home today.  This is informed largely by my health care provider’s warning that any little fender-bender or slip on the ice warrants a trip to the ER, and that sounds like a fat lot of trouble.

Work is more fun with daytime TV on in the background.  Woo!

Our building is a ghost town today, but daycare was open! We’ll see how long that lasts.

Oh, and that reminds me…have you two settled on a daycare? Did I miss that post…?

We haven’t done much hunting yet, because we’re hoping to avoid the need for daycare for the first year. Do you have a most favorite recommendation?

Wow. That would be awesome if you can avoid daycare that long. We looked at that place near you across the street from Gay & Ciha, but they wanted a full month’s tuition as a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit!(?) Uh, no. Isn’t there a new facility in the old Moose lodge, too? I hear that’s supposed to be a very good place, and it couldn’t get much more convenient for you.

We’ve been happy with Kids’ Depot. It backs up against Hickory Hill Park and has another park right next door. The kids are always outside running around in nice weather. The teachers are good and really care about the kids. Ava’s doing gymnastics and Spanish classes, and the staff often take the kids downtown for field trips in the summer. And it’s right on the way to work (over on Reno). The price was right, too. I think we looked at…six or seven places and got lots of recommendations. We had a to get on a waiting list for KD, and Leah literally called once a week to let the owner know we were interested in going there. I was very glad to get the whole daycare thing behind us.

Of course you’re not a wuss for not getting on icey streets, you’re Mighty Gestational!

map, that’s the place with the red door, right, set back from the street. We lived right near there (three blocks) and always imagined our kids would go there, though we knew nothing about it. I’m really happy to know it is a good place, and that our boys would have enjoyed it.
