Ice cream toppings

Why do some fruits sound appetizing on ice cream and others don’t?

Good:

  • Peaches
  • Strawberries/raspberries/blueberries
  • Cherries
  • Pineapple

Bad:

  • Apples (unless in pie form)
  • Grapes
  • Oranges (maybe mandarin oranges, but it’s still iffy)

Am I the only person on Earth who doesn’t like peaches? It is just something about the texture.

    Good:
    Blackberries

    Bad:
    Avocados

    Meh:
    Bananas

    ???:
    Pears

Interesting observation. Though applesauce is surprisingly good as an ice cream topping.

Cantaloupe is good with ice cream too.

I’d lobby for moving apples to the “good column.” Not just sliced raw, of course (though that could be good, too, with a nice tart Granny Smith), but sliced thin or diced, then warmed with a little butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon (duh, like pie filling).

    Mango? I think yes.

Best ice cream topping – hands down – fresh picked blackberries.
