Perseverance
We were in the car, and I told Denny a not truly vulgar but risqué joke. I thought it would go right over Miles’s head.
M: Tell that story again. I don’t know what it’s all about.
I made some quick modifications and re-told the joke.
M:Â Tell that story again!
We repeated that cycle 4 times. Denny couldn’t stop laughing because of how stupid it sounded.
M:Â Tell that story again!
A:Â Okay, but this is the last time.
I told the cleaned-up version again.
M:Â (pause) Will you sing me that story?
Fortunately we got home before I was forced to turn it into a rock opera. Once we were in the house…
