Sushi + retraction

Hey, all you parents who hope to instill a love of interesting food in your children (Danny, Jack, map, I’m looking at you), you could buy your kids this awesome toy sushi set.

Also: thanks to Jack for pointing out that the story I quoted from Canada’s National Post on Friday is actually a hoax. You’ll notice that the story has been pulled; the link I provided now goes nowhere. This site refutes the National Post‘s claim. So, for the time being, rest assured that Iran does not have plans to require Jews and Christians to wear color-coded (or as the Canadians would say, colour-coded) armbands. Also rest assured that anti-Arab propaganda lives on, even in gentle Canada.

For the record, Aidan goes to sushi restaurants with us. He eats the edamame, then he has teriyaki chicken, he eats any of the sushi with shrimp tails sticking out (though he is not so sure of the seaweed), then he has an ice cream sunday with a cherry on top.

I do like the Super Sushi Pretend Food though.

You’re certainly on the right track, Danny. I hope I get a kid with adventurous taste someday like Aidan.

Well. We had pad thai the other day at a spicyness level of 1 out of 10, and he tried the chicken and complained that “this is too spicy for me!” When he gets a sandwich with a leaf of lettuce on it, he ask that we “take the salad off!” Green flecks in his pasta is a no-no. And so on. So, while he does eat a lot of stuff, he also does have the typical toddler food finickiness.

Tiffany attributes his acceptance of many foods to her diet of many foods while she was pregnant with him. He also listened to a lot of NPR in the womb, we’ll see what effect that has.

For the record, we Canadians don’t actually include the National Post as a real source of news when regarding national or international events. In fact, most of us would really, really like them to go away. 🙂
