What do you wish you smelled like?

I stopped by Osco over lunch break today, and I spent a few minutes sniffing various bath gels. I realize there are better places to go than Osco if I want a truly luxurious bath gel experience, but it’s very convenient, and I figured I’d be able to find something not-vile.

No such luck. Well, to be fair, lots of them were not-vile, but none of them really made me want to lather up, then and there. I found lots of your typical flowery crap, like “Jasmine Blossom Bliss” and “Rose Rendezvous.” Maybe a pricier brand would smell more like actual flowers and less like old lady perfume; I don’t know.

I think that I would prefer to smell like a food item, anyway. There were a couple of mango choices, but I prefer my fruits later in the day. In the morning, I want some sort of nutty, cinnamony cereal and coffee.

Denny doesn’t like coffee, so even though mocha-scented shower gel sounds great, it’s probably a bad idea if I want to maintain his affections. Is there such a thing as Honey Bunches of Oats shower gel?

I think Philosophy makes a Cinnamon Buns shower gel. That sounds good. Ooh, I see they also have Waffle Cone. Yum. I know I said no fruit, but banana would be good for a p.m. shower. And how about Sugar Cookie? In my perfect world, I would eat sugar cookies for breakfast.

The obvious answer here is that Osco needs to start carrying Philosophy products.

In my opinion (and I know I have many), any cookie with no chocolate chip is not worth it. In my perfect utopia, all chocolate chip cookies would be straight out of the oven and undercooked. I know this is merely a fantasy.

check out MMU! they have sooo many scents. the only bad thing is you cant smell them first, but they do offer small sizes so you have the option of trying a few.

Thanks, Linds! My favorite part is that the URL looks like it says mucous.

My wife sometimes uses something that smells remarkably like a chocolate layer cake. I believe I even bought it for her for Christmas, but the name of it completely escapes me at the moment. Sorry.

I do know she orders from Lush at times as well, and everything from there alwayls smells pretty delectable.

oh, LUSH is the most WONDERFUL slice of paradise in ALL of Chicago.

    and, Aprille?

by presenting all of the Internet with the image of you lathering up in the middle of Osco, you have, no, I’m serious, succeeded in making the Old Capital AWESOME!

Talk about giving back to the community. We didn’t think such a thing could be done.

My grandpa smelled like pipe smoke and black licorice. I don’t know how that would go over in a bath gel, but it worked for him.

I don’t really like Lush. It overwhelms me. I like the idea behind it, and I’ve gotten some nice things mail-order from them, but going in the stores is too much.

I’m about ready to make an order with MMU, thanks to Linds. They have some really incredible scents. I love almond stuff, and they have about 4 or 5 different variations just on almond.

Also, I was referring to lathering up my hands, thank you very much. Some of the bottles were leaky, too, so it was easy to do.

I had to order liquid Safeguard soap for my household hand soap. I love the smell and it is not sold in stores. Only in bulk. I have 2 gigantic containers full of Safeguard hand soap.

Lush swore for years that it would never open stores in the United States.
And at the end, hey, they did it. 😛
I wouldn’t be surprised if they soon opened some branches of their “B Never Too Busy to B Beautiful” – an upscale (or overpriced, depending on what one wants to see) version of Lush, nestled bang in the middle of Covent Garden in London.
Lush was fantastic before it went global. Now they use cheap synthetic horrible stuff. But things at B are still worth seeking. And one of them is their signature shower gel – goes by the same name, and yes, it definitely is “Honey Bunches of Oats” in a bottle. It is £15 for one 500ml bottle, but I bought mine in October and it is not even halfway down… so it is money well spent.

If you ever come to London again, AND CARE TO TELL ME 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 I’ll buy you lunch and take you to B… 🙂
