Indianapolis

I have never been to Indianapolis.  I was recently accepted to present at the CIC CIO Tech Forum 2007 (not much available at that site yet), and it’s in Indianapolis in October.  I have no idea what to do there.  Is it fun?

The presentation is going to be kind of lame, because it’s actually a colleague and me together, so I figured we’d each have half an hour.  Then, when I got the acceptance, I found out that we only get 20 minutes for both of us.  Sheesh!  How are we supposed to get anything said in such a short time?  I’ve got a lot of love to give, people.

Oh well.  I get a free trip out of it regardless, and I guess it’s less stress this way.  The question remains:  Indianapolis?  Any good museums or anything?

The Indy Children’s Museum is a really fun place to see (http://www.childrensmuseum.org/) and they have the neatest water clock in the atrium. I think the best place for nightlife is Broadripple (http://www.discoverbroadripplevillage.com/). That’s the trendy area of town, and there’s almost always live music there. Downtown, there’s the big Circle Centre Mall and a bunch of restaurants (if you feel like steak, definitely try St. Elmo’s – http://www.stelmos.com/).

Indy sucks ass. No actually it is a pretty cool town. I’ll give you some tips.

They have cool stores and restaurants on Mass. Ave
The Best Dance Club/Drag show I’ve ever been to is at Talberts
They just finished reworking the Art Museum
    Free Zoo

    I can’t believe Steve T. didn’t mention this attraction.

My parents, who went to college there, swear that Shapiro’s Deli (the downtown one) is the best Jewish Deli anywhere.

I grew up in Indy and there are lots of cool things. The Eiteljorg Native American Art museum, the zoo is actually a combo of zoo and aquarium (but I don’t think it’s free), Shapiro’s is so good I drive back at least twice a year to have some. check out Indy.org for special events taking place when you are there

I’ll shut up now, I love Indy
