Enough with the (posting about) pushups.

I think perhaps it is boring for me to update 3 days a week on the topic of pushups.

I’ll stop.  But I won’t stop doing pushups.  I did 50 today (in 5 sets).

I can relate to your push up building. The Army was big on push ups, my very tall, very thin body was not. I found over the years the the fastest way for me to build was by doing a set every hour throughout the day. This can be done every other day to allow for recovery. I found that going up by 5 per week or so was a pretty good rate. For instance, 20 pushups on the hour every hour all day, every other day, for one week. Next week, 25, then 30 and so on. It doesn’t get you to 100 by Christmas, but you don’t need to be doing 100 every hour, just 100 once. You can also vary the type and incline of the push up. You can elevate your feet (incline) widen your hands (wide arm), keep your elbows pinned to your sides (military), touch your index fingers and thumbs together (diamonds), or elevate your upper body by going on an object or dropping to your knees (decline). The variances will work different portions of your pectorals and triceps, and also allow you to do more push ups by switching stances throughout the exercise. I think you should be doing a total push to muscle failure at least once a week, continuing to further muscle failure on your knees. That will also help you gauge progress.
