TV plays with my brain

I don’t know how many of you watch both Lost and Heroes, but if you do fall into the intersection of that particular Venn diagram, wasn’t it cool how the last episode of each one made a reference to the other?  Denny was telling me that the creators of the two shows are friends, and there’s speculation that there might be some kind of tie between the shows, like the characters inhabit the same universe or something.

I’ll try to keep this spoiler-free for those of you who haven’t gotten around to watching the shows yet:

Lost:  Desmond notices an unusual change in himself and talks about wanting to be a hero.

Heroes:  Somebody (Syler?  I can’t remember) talked about how the scientists would want to take all the abnormal people and put them on an island in the middle of the ocean.

Fascinating, yes?

It makes me a bit wistful to read this post. I haven’t gotten into a good prime time serialized TV drama since X Files went off the air. X Files! Can you imagine? I feel like it’s too late now for Lost and 24. Maybe there’s still time to make it into Heroes. Sounds like the writers on these new shows picked up some tricks from Chris Carter.

Lost is making my head hurt recently. I want answers!!

I still haven’t forgiven Chris Carter for what he (and/or FOX) did to the X-Files. And for giving up on Millenium way too early. At least Terry O’Quinn seems to have survived.

I confess I gave up on Lost a long time ago. Not really sure why, probably just that the only character I was interested in was Hurley and once I saw the episode about him winning the lottery from “cursed numbers” I felt like I knew all I ever needed to know about the show. Heroes on the other hand I care about every single character, which is why it frustrates me that Parkman keeps getting the shaft over and over again – they left him tied up all episode long during “Parasite” and probably won’t even remember to update us on him on April 23rd. I’m at least hoping that Hana breaks him out.
