Indianapolis

Good morning, chums.

Yesterday evening, some colleagues and I arrived in beautiful(?) Indianapolis.  Actually the downtown area, which is where we are, is quite nice; the outer areas near the racetrack were kind of depressing.  We got checked in and settled at the hotel, then we went out to a German restaurant.  I was kind of disappointed that the waitresses didn’t have on the St. Pauli Girl outfits, but they were just wearing regular clothes.  The food was pretty good (I had orange roughy; after a heavy lunch on the road, I couldn’t deal with a giant pile of sausages, though some of my peeps did), and the atmosphere was nice.

Some people got sampler six-packs of beer, which I enjoyed sniffing but of which I did not partake.

Oh!  At a gas station outside Indianapolis, I saw mango-and-chile flavored lollipops and gummy candies.  I might have tried one, but I certainly didn’t need a whole bag, so I didn’t get any.  I got cranberry juice instead.

Today is my presentation; it’s going to be brief (each presenter is only allotted 20 minutes, and I have to share with my colleague, so I really only get 10).  In fact, if you state of Iowa taxpayers are paying attention, I should be upfront and tell you that this is sort of a waste of your money.  I’ll probably attend some sessions and possibly learn something, but I can’t guarantee it.

More later.

Do at least try to steal a pen or two and bring it back to the state; that way, we have some imports. 🙂
